Big Band, Swing, Jazz Vocalist

Johnny O’Connor is quickly been recognised as an excellent exponent of the swing music era, particularly the music of Sinatra. For the last 9 years he has been wowing audiences in Europe and the UK.
´Johnny defines the Sinatra persona of the 50’s, the cockiness and cool exterior of ‘Ol Blue Eyes’, the smartness of dress and has all the mannerisms of ‘The Chairman of the Board’, to a tee” - Barbara Law,
Johnny hails from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, where as a youngster he found the passion for Jazz and Swing music. As a schoolboy, Johnny began as a trumpet player in his local Big Band and at the age of 16 became the band’s vocalist.
A career in music soon became inevitable and after studying at The City of Leeds College of Music, Johnny went on to tour throughout the UK and Europe with various different bands playing various styles of music from Rock to Jazz as a guitarist, bass player, banjo player and vocalist.
It was in 2002 when Johnny decided to go back to his love of swing music and focused all his attention to the music of Sinatra and The Ratpack, finding success performing in European 5* hotels as well as guest spots back in the UK with various big bands including dates with Matt Monro jr and the Moonlight Serenade Orchestra.
In April this year Johnny returned to the UK and has wowed audiences all over the country as a solo performer. As well as performing with Joe Longthorne, he has appeared with Frank Carson, Duncan Norvelle, Mick Miller, Johnnie Casson and Billy Pearce, in some of the major theatre and cabaret venues in the country.
He has fast become one of the most sought after vocalists in the business and is the perfect addition to any evening of entertainment. From theatre to cabaret to corporate, he is the complete package. A young man with great talent, professionalism and a terrific attitude.
